About

Jessica Isaacs is an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Peck School of the Arts. She is working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the Fiber Arts. As a non-traditional student and mother, her work details her journey through matrescence, the process of becoming a mother. She also uses her work to express the pressures of motherhood and living as a part of the middle generation squeeze, those who are not only trying to raise a family of their own but are also responsible for the care of their aging family members. She explores the stressors and emotions of living a domestic life though the relationship between line and texture. The relation between color and emotion are also explored. She finds comfort and inspiration in utilizing the repetitive nature of the fiber arts as a creative process.
